Saint Gallen
Visit the capital city of Saint Gallen canton, Saint Gallen. It has a rich history and many beautiful buildings. Noteworthy is the abbey library of the former St. Gallen Monastery, which was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage in 1983. Remnants of the late baroque age are in the abbey district with the cloister church, abbey library and abbey archive. The library and the archive preserve documents and certificates as evidences of European culture during the early Middle Age. The train from Rohrschach to St. Gallen takes 15 minutes.

The view over Lake Constance is absolutely breath-taking. About 40 joke-boards are installed along the trail and invite you to linger and smile, unfortunately they are only in German. The hike takes about 2:30 – 3:00 hours, the distance is 8 km.
The route leads along the southern shore of the lake, crossing it between Unteruhldingen and the Constance Bay. From there we pass the swiss canton of Thurgau, the towns Romanshorn and Arborn until we finally land in Rohrschach. Here the groups split up.
Those visiting St. Gallen will take the train which takes approximately 15 minutes. In St. Gallen you have time to visit the historic sites mentioned above until you have to take the train to Rheineck, where our boat will depart from, pleas be on time. Departure at Rheineck is at 17:15 h.
The Joke Trail “Witzweg” has its beginning right at the harbour in Rohrschach. At first you take the rack railway to Heiden from where you can either walk or take the bus to Walzenhausen, which is the actual trail. From Walzenhausen a second rack railway takes you down to Rheineck, where the Boat will depart from, please be on time.
The way back to Überlingen starts in Rheineck, where we will enter the unique nature reserve of Altenrhein where the river Rhine enters into Lake of Constance. From there the route continues off the northern shore, passing the towns Langenargen, Friedrichshafen, Immenstaad, Hagnau and Meersburg.
